CU Library

Our library staff is responsible for acquiring, cataloging and making available the resources necessary to fulfill the teaching and research missions of CU Carinthia University. In addition, they provide information on how to use the library and answer bibliographic questions. CUB Carinthia participates in the Austrian Library Network (ÖBV) and the “Austrian E-Media Cooperation” (KEMÖ).

Library Regulations

The Library Regulations (BO) constitute a site-wide user guideline for the CU Library and are subject to the currently valid house rules as well as the IT user regulations. When reproducing library materials (copying, etc.), the relevant section of the Copyright Act (§ 42 UrhG) must be observed.

Campus Libraries

Due to the decentralized structure of CU Carinthia University, the library system is divided into four campus libraries. There is no main library; that is, all campus libraries are of equal standing. Accordingly, the CU libraries have a multi-tiered organizational structure, meaning that library operations are carried out in parallel at all campus libraries. For this reason, inquiries should primarily be directed to the respective campus library.
On this page, you will find general, cross-campus information and links, while the pages for the individual campus libraries contain location-specific information.

 Print and Digital Media Research

Print Media Research

The Austrian Library Network (ÖBV) comprises approximately 80 academic and administrative libraries from all federal states, including the CUB Carinthia.
The ÖBV not only facilitates efficient, collaborative cataloging according to uniform quality standards but also provides users with a wide range of search options in the Online Public Access Catalog (OPAC). In addition to searching for literature in the local OPAC of the CUB Carinthia, users can also search any other local OPAC of a network member. Furthermore, union catalogs are available for meta-searches across all network databases, covering books, journals and series.

E-Media Search

The “Kooperation E-Medien Österreich” (Austrian E-Media Cooperation) facilitates the joint subscription to and management of electronic media, particularly databases and electronic journals. Approximately 30 academic libraries currently participate in this consortium, including the CUB Carinthia. The databases we subscribe to can be searched via the Database Information System (DBIS), and the e-journals via the Electronic Journals Library (EZB). Please note that you may only share content from licensed e-resources with members of the CU Carinthia University. In addition, you can also access freely available electronic resources through both systems.
