Welcome to the “Gründergarage” at CU Carinthia University – you’re exactly who we’ve been looking for! The “Gründergarage” at CU is a support center for aspiring entrepreneurs.
An experienced team with a broad network of experts provides support through personalized coaching, constructive feedback, and networking with subject matter experts both within and outside the university. For technical startup projects, the smart lab Carinthia – a high-tech prototyping lab – is available. Through regular events and our long-standing connections to the Carinthian startup scene, our founders are integrated into a vibrant community of like-minded individuals.


Ideas need space, tools and dedicated people!
The smart lab CARINTHIA in Villach offers not only physical space but also the necessary equipment to bring your own ideas to life.
We provide you with free access to production equipment such as 3D printers and scanners, a laser cutter, a cutting plotter, a CNC milling machine, an electronics workstation and appropriate design software. This allows you to bring your own ideas to life and create a wide variety of products tailored to your individual needs.


Developing innovation efficiently
In Carinthia’s first innovation workshop, trend analyses are conducted, ideas and concepts are developed, business models are created and potential solutions are devised through prototyping.
This service is available to degree programs at CU Carinthia University as well as to companies. The space is equipped with high-quality facilitation tools designed to support creative processes. Technology portals for research purposes – such as those providing trend and patent data – are available for evaluation and analysis. For professional prototyping, users can also access 3D printers, CNC machines, mechatronics equipment and testing laboratories for materials testing, thermodynamics and fluid dynamics.

We support technology- and knowledge-based startup projects from their inception in academia through to market readiness. The focus is on the significance of these startup ideas for Carinthia’s business landscape.
CU Carinthia University serves as the sponsor of this support program and assists its students in implementing their startup ideas within the framework of the program.

Digital Lab
The Digital Lab at the School of Business & Management is a virtual laboratory for digital transformation.
Key areas of focus include the digitization of processes, the development of digital strategies and business models, data science, Internet technologies, e-government and e-commerce.
The Digital Lab brings together a network of experts from the fields of business, public administration and higher education.
