Scholarships for Students at CU Carinthia University

 

CU Carinthia University is offering a new TECH scholarship for international master’s students from Europe, South America, and Mexico.

To attract new and talented students (high potentials) from Europe, South America, and Mexico to pursue a technical Master’s Degree in Carinthia, CU CarinthiaUniversity, in collaboration with companies and associations, is offering four scholarships of € 8,400 each. 

The following objectives are being pursued for CU Carinthia University and Carinthian industry:

  • Attracting highly qualified students from Europe, South America and Mexico
  • To attract new potential skilled workers for industry in Carinthia 
  • To facilitate integration and retention in Carinthia  

The scholarship includes:

  • 1st and 2nd semesters: A monthly scholarship of € 700
  • 3rd and 4th semesters: Opportunity for part-time employment (for a maximum of 20 hours per week) at one of our partner companies or in the research department at CU Carinthia University (subject to availability)
  • Free German language course (German for Beginners, Language Immersion Course German) at CU Carinthia University to improve your chances of entering the Austrian job market.

 Requirements / Criteria:  

  • Excellent Bachelor’s Degree
  • Not a resident of Austria at the time of application 
  • Not an Austrian citizen 
  • Nationality as listed in the country list *) 
  • Award of a spot in a master’s program as per the list**)
  • Only for Bachelor’s Degree holders who have not previously earned a Master’s Degree 
  • Full payment of tuition fees, including the ÖH contribution (payment can be made no earlier than mid-January 2026)  

Procedures & Application
After successfully completing the admissions process at CU Carinthia University for the respective Master’s program and paying the tuition fees, you will automatically receive a link via email to apply for the TECH Scholarship once the criteria have been reviewed.

APPLY FOR A TECHNICAL MASTER’S PROGRAM AT CU CARINTHIA UNIVERSITY

Deadline for submitting a scholarship application: 
May 15, 2027
Official notification of the award of the TECH Scholarship will be sent directly to the selected applicants by the end of June 2027 at the latest.

Obligations of Scholarship Recipients:
During the funding period, scholarship recipients must comply with all provisions of the education agreement and the General Study and Examination Regulations.

Students in technical fields who are planning a research project at a U.S. university may apply for the Marshall Plan Scholarship.

An internal committee decides which applicants will be nominated for the scholarship based on various criteria (academic preparation, academic progress, and evaluation by the supervisor). Incomplete applications will not be processed. Applicants will be notified of their nomination via email by the International Relations Office at CU Carinthia University.
 

The final decision on awarding the scholarship rests with the Austrian Marshall Plan Foundation and is made in May and December. The scholarship is awarded in amounts ranging from € 4,000 to € 10,000, depending on the duration of the stay and the scope of the research.

The research project must

  • last at least 3 months
  • take place during the academic year (including summer break)
  • take place at a U.S. university (which may, but does not have to, be a partner institution of CU Carinthia University)
  • be organized by the students themselves – a supervisor must be available
  • be completed with a paper of at least 7,500 words (seminar papers, bachelor’s theses, or master’s theses are acceptable)

The state of Carinthia, represented by Dr. Peter Kaiser, Governor and Commissioner for Education, in collaboration with sponsor Dr. Alfred Gusenbauer, awards scholarships to Carinthian students who are studying social and/or economic sciences, political science, and educational science, and who wish to spend the 2022 winter semester and 2023 summer semester studying abroad. For each academic year, the student receives a scholarship in the amount of € 5,000. Only active students who still have at least two semesters remaining after the scholarship is awarded and who have submitted a complete set of application documents are eligible to apply.

Students who are studying while working can take a leave of absence for 2 to 12 months and apply for educational leave.

In certain cases, you may apply for financial aid from your respective Degree program to cover a study abroad period. You can find information on how to apply from your program and on the intranet. Please follow the internal guidelines of your program. Students who are already receiving a scholarship have only a limited chance of receiving program-specific financial aid.

The Association for the Promotion of CU Carinthia University awards scholarships in the amount of € 3,000 to high-achieving students enrolled in the University’s Degree programs.

The scholarships are made possible by the association’s supporting members, which include numerous Carinthian municipalities and institutions.

Students who wish to apply for an association scholarship must meet the following criteria:

  • High school diploma from Carinthia
  • Enrollment at CU Carinthia University
  • Financial need
  • Very good academic performance (successful completion of all required exams for the specified academic year with a grade point average of ≤ 1.5).

Applications may be submitted no earlier than after completing a full academic year at CU Carinthia University.

Call for Applications for the Rotary Club of Innsbruck 2026 Scholarship for High-Achieving Students

The Rotary Club of Innsbruck is convinced that today’s youth are the future of Austria and that the many highly gifted young people in our country deserve the best possible support. Adapting to rapidly advancing technology and shaping social development at the national, European, and global levels will be driven in the coming years by the brightest minds among today’s youth. For this reason, the Rotary Club of Innsbruck has been awarding a scholarship since 1988 to support highly gifted young people. The scholarship is announced annually at Austrian universities, colleges, and universities of applied sciences; the call for applications is also sent to all Austrian Rotary Clubs.
 

The application materials (a letter of recommendation from a sponsor at an Austrian Rotary Club; a statement of purpose; proof of academic achievement; certificates of extracurricular activities; personal statement with a detailed resume; and a reference or evaluation from a professor in the candidate’s field of study) must be submitted electronically in three PDF files:

  1. All transcripts starting with the Matura (PDF 1).
  2. All confirmations of extracurricular activities (PDF 2).
  3. All other documents (letter of motivation, resume, evaluation, etc.) (PDF 3).

The total file size of all three files must not exceed 5 MB. Applications that do not meet these requirements will not be considered. Call for Applications and Details

Diagnostikum Graz awards two scholarships to students in the Bachelor’s program in Radiological Technology at CU Carinthia University. Starting as early as the second semester, you can complete a paid CT internship. Starting in the third semester, you’ll have the opportunity to apply for the Diagnostikum Graz scholarship.

Scholarships for Incoming Exchange Students

 

This is a one-semester or one-year scholarship for studies at CU Carinthia University. The call for applications is primarily aimed at non-European countries.

Applicants must be enrolled at a university in their home country. To apply for the scholarship, students need a “Letter of Acceptance” from CU Carinthia University. Applications are submitted through the International Office as incoming exchange students. The Learning Agreement must show a minimum of 15 ECTS credits.
