- We only accept documents issued in German, English, or bilingually (national language + German or English).
- The translation must be performed by a sworn translator certified by the court.
- Here you’ll find the current overview of whether you need full diplomatic certification or an apostille, or whether the documents are exempt from certification.

In some cases, it is possible to apply while still in your final year of high school or your final year of university. You can find details on this in the country-specific information regarding admission requirements.

Note:
Please review our information on admission requirements again. For some degrees and countries, we can only verify admission requirements based on the diploma itself, as the combination of subjects is a decisive factor.
To begin a Bachelor’s Degree program, you need a general university entrance qualification – that is, an Austrian Matura or an equivalent qualification (see Sections 4 and 5 of the University of Applied Sciences Act). If you did not earn your Matura in Austria or at an Austrian school abroad, we will assess its equivalence as soon as you submit your online application.
According to § 64(2) of the University Act (UG), qualifications may be classified as equivalent if:
- The duration of the program is at least 12 years.
- The diploma grants unrestricted access to higher education in the country of origin.
- General education subjects make up the majority (at least 60%). As a general rule, the following six subjects must have been successfully completed in the last 3 years of school:
- two languages
- History, Geography, or Economics
- Mathematics
- Biology, physics, or chemistry
- one general education subject of your choice
Please note that for all Bachelor’s Degree programs (except Disability & Diversity Studies), you must demonstrate English proficiency at the B2 level to be admitted to the program. For German-language Degree programs, you must also demonstrate German language proficiency at the B2 or C1 level.
Country-specific Information
To be eligible to begin a Master’s Degree program, you must have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in the same field (with a minimum duration of 3 or 4 years, depending on the country of study, and at least 180 ECTS credits). You can find information on which bachelor’s programs are considered relevant to the field and which minimum criteria must be met on the website of the respective Master’s program.
Please note:
- For German-language Master’s Degree programs, proficiency in German at the B2 level and, in addition, proficiency in English at the B2 level are required.
- For English-language programs, you must demonstrate English proficiency at the B2 or C1 level.
Applications from individuals whose documents require full diplomatic legalization can only be processed if this documentation is already submitted with the application. Only legalization by an Austrian diplomatic or consular mission is accepted. This means: The Bachelor’s Degree must already have been completed at the time of application.
Please also note that some universities are ranked into sections (1–3). As a result, admission requirements may vary. Each application is reviewed individually; no preliminary information regarding possible admission can be provided.
We process only complete applications submitted via the online portal https://cuas.bewerbung.at/en and provide feedback on whether the admission requirements have been met after evaluation.
