Is Intercultural Management the right degree program for me?
This program is designed for anyone interested in business, languages, and cultural differences. It is particularly well-suited for people who work in international companies, collaborate with diverse teams, or are aiming for a career abroad.
What is Intercultural Management?
Intercultural management focuses on successful collaboration among people from different cultural backgrounds. You will learn to understand cultural differences, design communication processes, and professionally lead international and intercultural teams.
What topics are covered in the program?
The program combines business administration, management, languages, and intercultural communication. Course content includes, among other things:

What distinguishes Intercultural Management from a traditional business degree?
You combine business knowledge with foreign languages and intercultural communication. This enables you to prepare specifically for international business situations and for working in culturally diverse teams.
In what language is the program taught?
The language of instruction is English. Therefore, you need English proficiency at least at the B2 level. During your studies, you will further develop your English skills for scientific, academic, and professional contexts.
Can I study without knowing German?
Yes, the program is taught entirely in English. Non-German-speaking students do not need to know German and can learn the language from scratch as part of the language track.
What languages can I learn during my studies?
You’ll choose a language track in German or Italian. In addition, you can take elective courses in other foreign languages, such as French, Russian, or Spanish. This will allow you to expand your personal international profile in a targeted way.
Is a study abroad program part of the degree program?
We are partners in the ACE2 EU program. This enables students to participate in mobility programs in a wide variety of contexts. In addition, a semester abroad with partner organizations around the world is offered as an option during the fourth semester.
What requirements do I need to meet?
You must have a general university entrance qualification or an equivalent qualification, as well as English proficiency at the B2 level. German-speaking applicants must also demonstrate intermediate proficiency in a second foreign language. Non-German-speaking applicants are not required to have German language skills and may learn German as beginners.
How is the program organized?
The full-time program lasts six semesters, comprises 180 ECTS credits, and takes place on the Villach campus. Classes are generally held Monday through Friday and occasionally on Saturdays. The modules are organized into clearly defined learning phases with midterm or final exam weeks.
Is the program practical?
Yes, case studies, practical assignments, projects, field trips, and experiential learning connect the course content with real-world challenges in the global economy. Instructors from companies and institutions share current developments and insights from their professional experience.
Is a professional internship required?
Yes, in the sixth semester, you’ll complete a professional internship worth 18 ECTS credits. During this internship, you’ll apply your business, language, and intercultural skills in a professional setting and gain valuable practical experience.
What career opportunities does this degree program offer?
After graduation, you can work for internationally oriented companies and organizations both in Germany and abroad. Possible career paths include international project management, human resource management, international marketing, and management roles in companies with cross-border business relationships.
Can I go on to pursue a master´s degree after completing my bachelor´s degree?
Yes, this degree qualifies you to pursue a master’s program in Business & Management at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences or a related master’s program at another university or university of applied sciences. The English-language Master’s program in International Business Management at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences is a particularly good fit, as it deepens your business and intercultural skills with a focus on international management.
What are the tuition fees?
Tuition is €363.36 per semester, plus the applicable ÖH fee. For students from non-EU countries, tuition will be €500 per semester starting in the winter semester of 2026.
How do I apply?
Applications are submitted online through the CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences application portal. After registering, select your program of study, upload the required documents, and submit your application. You will then participate in the designated admissions process.
