Small classes, global perspectives, lasting connections

Savanna Stubbs, Canada, Class of 2024

Studying alongside people from around the world has broadened my perspective, deepened my intercultural understanding, and created connections I know will last a lifetime.

For Savanna Stubbs, the Master’s program in International Business Management at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences stood out from the beginning for its strong practical orientation. The combination of hands-on learning and business labs allows students to move beyond theory and apply what they learn directly to real-world business situations.

The international student community has been equally important to Savanna’s experience. Studying alongside classmates from different countries and cultural backgrounds has broadened her perspective and strengthened her intercultural understanding. At the same time, the boutique-sized classes create a close-knit environment where students can build meaningful academic and personal relationships–connections that Savanna believes will last well beyond graduation.

The practical experience continues outside the classroom through study excursions, where students meet industry professionals and gain first-hand insights into different companies and international business practices. For Savanna, these encounters have not only provided valuable insights into the business world but also sparked ideas about potential career paths after graduation.

Villach itself adds another international dimension to the experience. Located close to both Italy and Slovenia, the city offers easy access to different cultures and allows students to experience the unique character of the Alpine-Adriatic region.

For Savanna, the IBM program brings these experiences together to create a strong foundation for her future career: a global mindset, an international network, and the practical business expertise to navigate an increasingly international working environment.
