Country-Specific Admission Requirements
Bachelor's Degree Programs
You meet the admission requirements if you have completed at least 12 years of schooling and the high school diploma you hold grants you unrestricted access to universities in your home country. If you are required to take admission exams in your home country, you must also submit them to us (e.g., Greece, Spain).
A Bachelor’s Degree worth 180 ECTS credits from a recognized public university always meets the admission requirements for a Bachelor’s Degree program.
Students must select six (up to seven) courses from the following six groups
- Group 1: Studies in Language and Literature (language at the native speaker level)
- Group 2: Language Acquisition (Second or Foreign Language)
- Group 3: Individuals and Societies
- Group 4: Sciences
- Group 5: Mathematics
- Group 6: The Arts
A full IB Diploma consists of
- 2 languages (Groups 1 & 2 or both from Group 1)
- One subject each from Groups 3, 4, and 5
- One subject from Group 6 or an additional subject from Groups 1 through 5
- Extended Essay
- Theory of Knowledge
- CAS Activities
At least three of the six subjects must have been taken at the Higher Level (HL). These three subjects must have a combined score of 12, and no grade may be lower than 3. The sum of the individual grades must total at least 24 points.
The German Fachhochschulreife does not grant direct admission to universities in Austria. It is recognized as a vocational qualification – so in this case, you will need to take what are known as supplementary exams. The Swiss Maturität qualifies students for direct admission to higher education in Austria, whereas the Swiss Berufsmaturität does not grant such admission. We therefore recommend that applicants with the Swiss Berufsmaturität take the Passerelle supplementary exam. If the applicant’s vocational background is relevant to the program, it should be determined whether it might be possible to take supplementary exams as part of the preparatory course for university admission.
- Four separate, general education subjects must be completed with a grade of at least A*, A, B, or C (or grades 9–4). The following subjects must be included in any case:
- a language
- Mathematics
- one of the following subjects: biology, physics, or chemistry
- a humanities subject
- At least three of the four subjects must be taken at the GCE Advanced Level or International Advanced Level (IAL)
- The fourth subject must have been passed at the GCSE, IGCSE, or Advanced Supplementary Level (AS).

If a student’s schooling spans only 11 years, they must pass two supplementary exams. The subjects are determined as part of the admissions process. The missing year of schooling may also be made up by completing a year of study at a recognized public university.
Direct admission with a U.S. high school diploma is only possible in combination with additional qualifications. These can be demonstrated through exams in the Advanced Placement Program (APP), the SAT, the ACT, or two years of study at an accredited postsecondary institution.
- AP: At least 4 AP exams with a grade of 2 or higher, including one in a language and one in mathematics
- SAT: A minimum score of 1,360 points must be achieved on the “Math” and “Evidence-Based Reading and Writing” sections (until February 2016: 1,300 points)
- ACT: A minimum composite score of 29 (until May 2014: 28)

The WASSC, issued by the “West African Examination Council” (WAEC), meets the admission requirements only if the applicant has completed at least five general education subjects – including at least one language and one mathematics or science subject. Furthermore, no grade may be lower than C6.
If an entrance examination (e.g., UTME in Nigeria) is required for university admission in the country of origin, this must also be submitted in Austria.

For this high school diploma, a minimum grade of B3 in all subjects is required for admission to a Degree program, and students must have completed at least five general education courses, with at least one language and one math or science course being mandatory.

Grade 12 Certificate + 2 years of active study with a successful completion rate (full-time, with at least 80% of the maximum possible points, but a CGPA of at least 3.75 out of 4.0) at an accredited institution of higher education.
Grade XII (Academic Transcript or School Leaving Certificate Examination):
If the required course requirements are met and grades are above 85%, admission is possible with two supplementary exams. If these requirements are not met, admission is possible upon successful completion of two academic years of study (full-time, at least 80% or a CGPA of 3.7 out of 4.0) at a recognized institution of higher education.
Admission to a Bachelor's Degree program is possible with the following qualifications:
- Baccalauréat de l'Enseignement Secondaire + 1 successful year of study at a state-recognized institution of higher education
- Examen Spécial d'Entrée dans les Facultés + 1 successful academic year at a state-recognized institution of higher education
If no academic year has been completed, applicants may be required to take at least two supplementary exams.

With the Ethiopian University Entrance Examination Certificate (Secondary School Leaving Examination (SSLE)) and a minimum score of 335, admission to a Bachelor’s Degree program is possible if either two supplementary exams are taken or proof of a successful academic year at a recognized public university is provided.

The following documents are required for admission to a Bachelor’s Degree program:
- The upper secondary school diploma (gaozhong biye zhengshu), obtained after a standard twelve years of schooling,
- in conjunction with the national secondary school graduation examination (putong gaozhong xueye shuiping kaoshi or huikao) and
- the national college entrance examination (putong gaodeng xuexiao zhaosheng quanguo tongyi kaoshi or gaokao) with a total score of at least 70% of the maximum possible score.
If the applicant already holds a Bachelor’s Degree (minimum 3 years of study or at least 180 ECTS credits), proof of the college entrance examination is no longer required.

Admission based solely on a high school diploma is not possible. If you provide proof that you have passed the “Konkûr” university entrance exam, admission is possible upon passing two supplementary exams. With a Bachelor’s Degree earned after at least 4 years of study (“Karshenasi”), admission to a Bachelor’s Degree Program is possible.

If the Senior High School Certificate (Grade XII) meets the required course requirements and the student has earned more than 85% of the maximum possible points, direct admission to the program is possible. If any subjects are missing, supplementary exams may be required.
If the score is between 70% and 85% and the required subjects are met, admission to the program is possible only on the condition that the student takes at least two supplementary exams.

Admission to a Bachelor’s Degree program is possible with the following qualifications:
- Baccalauréat de l'Enseignement Secondaire + Brevet de Technicien Supérieur (BTS)
- Baccalauréat de l'Enseignement Secondaire + 1 successful academic year at a state-recognized institution of higher education
If no academic year has been completed, students may be required to take at least two supplementary exams.

To verify eligibility, you must submit your high school transcripts for the 10th and 12th grades!
Grade 10 must have been completed with a grade point average of over 80%. In Grade 12, the required course load must be fulfilled, and the grade must be between 90% and 100%. In this case, admission to the program is possible, subject to the requirement of two supplementary exams.
If these criteria are not met, admission to the program may be granted upon proof of two years of active coursework at a recognized institution of higher education (full-time, with at least 80% of the maximum possible points).

Direct admission to a Bachelor’s Degree program is possible if the following criteria are met:
- Submission of GCE O-Levels and GCE A-Levels
- The Common General Paper test must be included in the A-Levels and must have been completed with a score of at least 30 points
- Fulfillment of the required subject requirements
- A grade of at least “C” (equivalent to at least 50% of the maximum possible score) is required in all A-Level subjects taken

Admission to a Bachelor’s Degree program is only possible if you have a diploma (Lise Diplomasi) from a Turkish high school (Lise) or equivalent school (Kolej), in conjunction with the ÖSYS or YÖS university entrance exam. The code card must show a total score of at least 180,000 under “Yerlesme Puani.”

Master's Degree Programs
Under current law, it is not possible to gain direct admission to a Master's Degree program with diplomas from Afghanistan.
Admission is only possible if the following criteria are met:
- A Bachelor’s Degree requiring at least 4 years of study
- A Degree in the same or a related field
- University with a sufficient ranking (Sections)
- At least a 90% academic performance If the institution is not ranked or the academic performance is too low, admission is not possible. The institution’s ranking is verified during the admission process.
Admission is possible only if the following criteria are met:
- A Bachelor’s Degree requiring at least 3 years of study
- A Degree in the same or a related field
- Degree from an accredited institution of higher education
- A minimum GPA of 60% or 75% (depending on the institution’s ranking) If the institution’s ranking is insufficient or the GPA is too low, admission is not possible. The institution’s ranking and accreditation will be reviewed.
Admission is only possible if the following criteria are met:
- A Bachelor’s Degree requiring at least 4 years of study
- A Degree in the same or a related field
- Degree from an accredited institution of higher education
- A minimum academic performance of 90%. If the institution is not accredited or the academic performance is too low, admission is not possible.
Admission is only possible if the following criteria are met:
- A Bachelor’s Degree requiring at least 4 years of study
- A Degree in the same or a related field
- A program accredited throughout its duration at a recognized institution of higher education
- A minimum academic performance of 85% or 90% (depending on the ranking) If the program is not accredited or its ranking is too low, admission is not possible.
Admission is only possible if the following criteria are met:
- GCE A-Level
- Bachelor’s Degree requiring at least 4 years of study
- Degree in the same or a related field
- Degree from an accredited institution of higher education
- At least 85% academic performance If the institution is not accredited or the academic performance is too low, admission is not possible.
