Is Business Management the right major for me?
This program is ideal for individuals who are interested in economic and legal issues and enjoy working in a solution-oriented manner. It is also helpful to enjoy working in a team, have an interest in modern technologies, demonstrate initiative, and be willing to take on responsibility and make sustainable decisions.
How long does the program last, and what degree will I receive?
The bachelor's program lasts six semesters and comprises 180 ECTS credits. Upon successful completion, students are awarded the academic degree "Bachelor of Arts in Business" (BA).
When does the program start?
The program begins each winter semester. The semester officially starts in October, but some introductory sessions or preparatory courses may take place as early as September. The current application deadlines are published on the program's website.
How is the “Studying and Gaining Work Experience at the Same Time” model implemented from an organizational standpoint?
In the full-time study track, there are no classes on Mondays. In addition, the course structure—with three modules taken concurrently and divided into half-semesters—allows for a better balance between studies and work. In the part-time study option, there is a fixed schedule with planned online and in-person class sessions. This schedule is determined in advance, is available for download on the website, and thus allows students to plan their study times with certainty.
What exactly do typical hands-on projects look like during the degree program, and which companies does CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences typically collaborate with on these projects?
For example, there is a separate “Project Management” module in which students work in small groups on a real-world project from the local business community. Typically, these are companies from both the for-profit and nonprofit sectors. They range from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to large corporations.
What specific support services are available to help ensure a successful transition into the first few years of one´s career (e.g., entry-level positions)?
As part of the program, students benefit from a wide range of contacts in the professional world. In many cases, companies reach out to students directly, as the bachelor’s thesis is often written in collaboration with a company. This leads to personal connections that are valuable for professional development.
What opportunities are available for studying abroad, and to what extent are international experiences actually integrated into the curriculum?
We are partners in the ACE2 EU program. This enables students to participate in mobility programs in a wide variety of contexts. In addition, the fourth semester (in the full-time track of the program) offers an optional semester abroad with partner organizations around the world.
What master´s programs can I pursue after completing my bachelor´s degree?
Many graduates successfully enter the workforce right after completing their bachelor’s degree. If you’d like to specialize further or explore additional career paths later on, a master’s program offers you a wide range of opportunities. At CU University of Applied Sciences Carinthia, for example, you can pursue a master’s degree in International Business Management or Business Development & Management.
Can I complete my professional internship in my desired area of specialization?
Yes. The mandatory professional internship can be completed in areas such as marketing, human resources and organization, or management accounting, depending on the student’s personal skill set. This allows students to deepen their specialized knowledge through practical experience and build connections with potential employers.
What kinds of professional roles will this degree program prepare me for?
Graduates can pursue careers in a variety of functional areas within companies and organizations. These include, for example, marketing, human resources, controlling, finance, accounting, project management, corporate organization, and management. Thanks to the program’s generalist approach, graduates are also well-equipped to take on cross-functional roles and entry-level management positions.
What role do digitalization and data play in university?
Digital work methods and data-driven decision-making are key components of the program. Among other topics, students explore business software, digital marketing, business intelligence and analytics, as well as modern information and communication technologies.
