Actively Shaping Quality in Healthcare

Petra Schwarz, IT Services - Barmherzige Brüder St. Veit 

Even before pursuing her Degree in Healthcare Management, Petra Schwarz was equally passionate about health and economic issues. Her Bachelor’s Program in Healthcare Management provided the ideal opportunity to combine both interests. Her professional internship in quality management at KAGES was particularly formative for her. There, she gained insights into internal and external audits, supported the implementation of digital surgical checklists, and witnessed firsthand how structured quality assurance contributes to patient safety. Her Bachelor’s Thesis also developed concrete measures to optimize discharge management and created lasting added value for clinical practice. After graduating, she gained experience in the rehabilitation and hospital sectors before joining the IT Services department at Barmherzige Brüder. Today, she oversees software implementations, manages clinical applications, and combines health management with digitalization, organization, and project management.
