Two Passions and a Degree with a Future
Sophia Filippitsch, Business Psychology Student
I’m particularly impressed by the strong practical focus. Many instructors come directly from the business world and share not only theoretical knowledge but also valuable real-world experience. I really appreciate that–for me, it’s crucial to understand the meaning behind what I’m learning. This hands-on approach makes exactly that possible.
Why did you decide to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Business Psychology at the School of Management / the Faculty of Economics & Management at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences in Villach?
I chose this program because I have two great passions: business and psychology. A program focused solely on business didn’t fully satisfy me. When I saw that CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences in Villach was offering Austria’s first tuition-free Business Psychology program, I jumped at the chance–and I haven’t regretted it for a single second.
What interests you or do you particularly enjoy about the Bachelor’s program in Business Psychology at CU University of Carinthia?
I especially love the psychology part of the program. We learn exactly the aspects of psychology that are truly relevant to business–the focus is on what matters most. The same is true for the business component. This targeted combination of two such different fields coming together fascinates me. Both disciplines are incredibly important for our society–learning at this intersection is something very special to me.
What do you particularly like about the learning environment at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences?
I like the varied structure of the program–the combination of in-person classes, online instruction, and asynchronous modules offers a lot of flexibility. There’s a little bit of everything, which makes it easy to balance with everyday life.
What further educational or career path are you aiming for after completing your bachelor’s degree in business psychology?
I’m currently working in HR alongside my studies–a perfect complement to my education. I’m not sure yet if I’ll stay in this field long-term. In the long run, I dream of becoming self-employed in the field of business psychology, coaching, or management consulting. When will I make that dream come true? We’ll see.
Do you have any tips for students just starting their studies?
My most important tip is: stay organized! If you manage your time and tasks in a structured way, you’re already well on your way. I recommend actively participating in class and not just “going through the motions.” Good class notes and active listening are the most helpful for studying and taking exams. Not every course will be your favorite–that’s normal. Discover your strengths and passions during your studies and focus on the joy these subjects bring you. Stick with it–it’ll be worth it in the end.
