Green Transition Engineering BSc
 Bachelor's Degree Program

Do you want to combine ecology, digitalization, and technology to solve global challenges? In the Bachelor’s program in Green Transition Engineering, you’ll gain an understanding of the interconnections of climate change and learn how to counteract it with targeted measures. This interdisciplinary program equips you with information technology skills to collect and analyze data, develop sustainable solutions, and help shape the world of tomorrow.

Here, you’ll learn how healthy ecosystems store CO₂, and how transitioning our energy supply to renewable sources and electric mobility contributes to sustainable development. You’ll be able to describe and evaluate the current situation using meaningful data. You’ll make necessary changes transparent through visual representations on maps or in presentations. This enables informed decisions to be made in order to implement effective measures for the green transition.

Are you ready to revolutionize the environment through technology?

Let’s drive the green transformation forward together.

Special features of the program

Practical Learning

In the Green Transition Engineering program, you’ll gain skills you can put to use right away. Theory is always brought to life with examples and exercises—and in numerous projects, you’ll work as part of a team to directly apply what you’ve learned.

Your classroom? Mostly the Villach campus, but also the great outdoors: field trips and outdoor exercises are an integral part of the program. Special highlights include the Orientation and Outdoor Project right at the start of your studies and the multi-day field trip to the Alps in the 3rd semester—here you’ll experience sustainability firsthand! In the 6th semester, you’ll complete a 12-week mandatory internship at a company or organization and apply your knowledge directly in a professional setting.

International Focus

We can only solve the major challenges of the future by working together—which is why you’ll study here alongside people from all over the world. Collaborating with classmates from different cultures will give you new perspectives and strengthen your ability to work with people from around the globe.

And because global issues require global languages: Classes are taught in English—so you can understand the environmental, economic, and social interconnections of tomorrow’s world.

Six Key Areas – Your Path to Expertise

The program is organized into exciting subject areas where you’ll acquire specialized skills: Methodological & Scientific Fundamentals, Social Transition, Ecological Transition, Data Engineering, Technological Transition, and Economic Transition. The development of your skills is clearly structured over the course of six semesters and builds step by step on your existing knowledge. In the 5th semester, you can deepen your knowledge in your individual areas of interest through required-elective courses.

Uniquely Interdisciplinary

Here, you’ll combine innovative technology with environmental, social, and economic transformation issues. This mix is unique: it blends broad foundational knowledge of the green transition with future-oriented IT skills—perfect for helping to shape the world of tomorrow.

Forward-Looking Education

The challenges of the future are immense: the digital and green transformations require the skills you’ll gain here to understand and tackle them. This program is a forward-looking, international engineering program with a focus on sustainability.

Companies and public-sector organizations need people just like you: employees who can not only develop sustainability concepts but also implement them and measure their effectiveness.
