Sex Education:
Aspects of Sexology and Sexuality across the Lifespan - MC

With the Micro Credential “Sex Education: Aspects of Sexology and Sexuality across the Lifespan,” you will gain in-depth knowledge of sexual development and socialization across different stages of life. This short, part-time program is designed for professionals in social work, the social sciences, healthcare and education who encounter issues related to the sexuality of people with or without disabilities in their professional practice.
You will explore childhood sexuality and sexual learning processes in the early years of life. Building on this foundation, you will examine the stages of sexual development during adolescence, adulthood and later life. Another key focus is on sexuality and disability.
In addition, you will learn the sexological foundations of sex education and reflect on the relationship between education and sexuality. You will examine current topics of discourse related to sexuality as well as the diversity of sexual expressions and lifestyles. In doing so, you will question your own values and moral beliefs and their influence on sex education programs.
You will also gain an overview of sexual problems and dysfunctions. This will help you recognize the boundaries of educational and counseling practice and distinguish them from the scope of specialized counseling and therapy services.
Upon completion, you will be able to professionally contextualize sexual development throughout the life course, reflect on different life realities and address issues in sex education more professionally. You will also be familiar with networks and institutions dedicated to sex education in Carinthia.
Build knowledge where taboos set limits.
Strengthen your skills in the MC Sex Education program to develop an open, reflective and professional approach to sexuality.
