FAQ

Who can apply?

The target audience for the University Entrance Examination Preparation Course at CU Carinthia University consists of individuals who do not have a Matura (High School Diploma) but who possess relevant professional or non-professional prior knowledge.

Admission requirements include being at least 20 years of age and holding citizenship of an EU or EEA country, or belonging to a group of persons as defined by the Group of Persons Ordinance. This is based on the current legal provisions pursuant to Section 5 of the Higher Education Act (FHG) in conjunction with Section 64a(2) of the University Act (UG).

What about the organization, costs and funding?

The course fee is 1,500 euros for the first year of study and is collected in two equal installments at the beginning of the winter semester and the beginning of the summer semester. Enrollment in a semester of the University Entrance Examination Preparation Course program - and thus attendance in one or more courses from the list of elective or required courses - is only possible after payment of the respective installment of the tuition fee.

It is possible to extend the preparation period for the University Entrance Examination Preparation Course by extending the duration of study; starting in the third semester, a course fee equal to the tuition fee for regular students in effect at that time, plus the applicable ÖH fee, will be charged for attending one or more courses and using the facilities. A leave of absence for a few courses that have not yet been completed is possible for a maximum duration of one academic year. Course fees already paid are non-refundable.

It is planned that, in the event of admission to a regular Degree program at CU Carinthia University, the tuition fee for the first semester of the standard program of study will be waived. However, the tuition fee can only be waived if the Degree program begun immediately follows the final semester of the University Entrance Examination Preparation Course.

Is there a list of courses?

The required classes in the University Entrance Examination Preparation Course cover a broad range of fundamental and advanced topics that are specifically tailored to the requirements of each field of study.
