ACTIVE Campus Room – Lecture Hall 4: Active Learning Together

As part of the “Come Together” event, the newly redesigned ACTIVE Campus Room—Lecture Hall 4—was unveiled on the Feldkirchen campus. The redesign of the lecture hall is part of the “ACTIVE Campus” project, which is funded from October 1, 2025, to October 31, 2027, as part of the Teaching and Learning Project Funding program.

As part of the project, Andrea Limarutti and Eva Mir, together with colleagues from Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, are developing ideas for active teaching and learning based on scientific findings. In addition, they are exploring how the natural environment can be integrated into teaching and learning processes. To this end, they are developing teaching and learning formats that both encourage physical activity and are nature-based.

The new ACTIVE Campus Room—Lecture Hall 4—brings this idea to life. Nature-based and movement-promoting elements create an inspiring learning and working environment that combines physical activity, well-being, and active learning.

Special thanks go to the Nockberge Biosphere Reserve, which supported the project not only with natural materials but also with active assistance in the room’s design. This made it possible to bring a piece of the natural environment directly into the lecture hall.
At today’s get-together, faculty, students, and staff were able to tour the new space, learn about the design concept, and discover the ideas and possibilities offered by the ACTIVE Campus project.

The first step has been taken, and the tone has been set. Now it’s up to the faculty and students to take advantage of these new opportunities, try them out, and bring the ACTIVE Campus Room to life. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to making this a reality.
