An Internship Abroad as the Foundation for an International Career

Alexander Grezko, Project Manager for Backend Services in the Electronic Health Records Division

Even during his HTL training, Alexander Grezko was passionate about medical technology and, in particular, diagnostic imaging. By pursuing a bachelor’s degree inMedical Information Technology at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, he found the ideal opportunity to combine technology, computer science, and healthcare.

A key milestone was his six-month professional internship in Malaysia. There, he helped build a new hospital and even drew on his experiences to develop the topic for his thesis. Immediately after graduation, he received a job offer from the company where he had completed his internship and returned to Malaysia for several years. There, among other responsibilities, he took on overall responsibility for the implementation of a hospital information system–including its subsystems–as well as the hardware and network infrastructure for a major international project.

Today, Alexander Grezko is a project manager for backend services in the field of electronic health records in Germany. Looking back, he describes his degree program as the foundation of his professional career: It gave him a direct entry into the workforce, provided valuable international experience, and equipped him with skills that continue to serve him to this day.

“You have to stay true to yourself and follow your own path.”
