Awards & Recognitions
The International Business Management master’s program of CU Hochschule Kärnten – CU Carinthia University and/or its faculty managers have received a variety of teaching-related national and international awards and recognitions.

2026
FH-Prof. Mag. Dr. rer. soc. oec. Stefan Dreisiebner, IBM Faculty Member 2026, was awarded the “Lehre inspiriert” Teaching Award by CU – Carinthia University of Applied Sciences.
What makes his teaching special? Above all, his extraordinary empathy and approachable manner. This allows him to create a “safe space” in the lecture hall that motivates students to surpass their own limits. To many students, he is much more than just a teacher—he is a mentor who shows that excellent teaching appeals to both the heart and the mind.

2024
The Ars Docendi 2024 (Austrian State Prize for Excellent Teaching awarded by the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science, and Research) in the category “Society- and sustainability-oriented teaching” is awarded to an “International Business Management” lecturer. Another lecturer wins the Ars Docendi Recognition Prize for teaching international perspectives on Artificial Intelligence. An “International Business Management” lecturer is among the finalists of the Minerva 2024 Award in the section of Social Entrepreneurship/Sustainability

2023
The Global Case Study Challenge, part of the Personal Skills Development Program module of the “International Business Management” master´s degree, won the first place for International Teaching Excellence in the category Innovative Teaching and Learning at PROFFORMANCE 2022

2022
A team of "International Business Management" students wins the national finals of the Project Management Championship (PMC) and represents Austria at the International Project Management Championship of the IMPA (International Project Management Association) in Berlin.

2021
The Program Director of the CUAS “International Business Management” master’s program receives the “Teacher of the Year” award at the 2021 CEEMAN Champions Award. CEEMAN is a global association of management development institutions with 200 members from 50 countries.

2020
An “International Business Management” faculty member received an award for getting on the shortlist for the “Ars docendi” ‒ Austrian State Prize for Teaching Excellence for the project “Global Case Study Challenge: Developing digital leadership and collaboration competencies”.

2018
The CUAS International Business Management program is ranked among the top 5 of all Austrian UAS master’s programs in the category Management/General Business Administration (Industriemagazin Ranking of Austrian Universities of Applied Sciences 03/2018)

2017
A teaching case study produced by a faculty member of the "International Business Management" master’s program (together with a colleague from Estonia) receives a "Highly Commended Paper" award in the 2017 Emerald Literati Network Awards for Excellence.

2016
Carinthia University of Applied Sciences ranks in the top 3 among all Austrian universities and universities of applied sciences in business studies (both bachelor and master program combined) in the 2016 U-Multirank study

Carinthia University of Applied Sciences’ business master programs are the highest ranked in Austria according to the 2014 international U-Multirank study
A paper on a basic teaching approach of the “International Business Management” program, “Challenge-Feedback-Learning,” was presented at the 40th Annual Conference of the European International Business Academy (EIBA) in Uppsala, Sweden
An “International Business Management” faculty member wins the “Ars docendi” ‒ Austrian State Prize for Teaching Excellence at Universities of Applied Sciences and Private Universities
A teaching case study produced by a faculty member for the “International Business Management” master’s program is the winner of the 11th Annual oikos Case Writing Competition in the category Corporate Social Responsibility" (ahead of case studies from Università Bocconi, INSEAD und Essec Business School)
The case study “GREENoneTEC: Fierce competition under the sun” (originally produced by a faculty member as a teaching case for the International Strategic Management course in the “International Business Management” master’s program) is used as one of the three final cases in the John Molson International MBA Case Competition (one of the most prestigious of its kind worldwide with 36 participating university teams from all five continents) and wins a CAN$ 1.000 prize in the 2014 John Molson MBA Case Writing Competition

A video case produced by “International Business Management” faculty members together with students and a representative of Infineon Technologies Austria wins the first prize in the 2nd Annual Academy of Management Teaching Resource Library Video Competition (Boston/USA)
2011
Carinthia University of Applied Sciences receives the Diploma Supplement Label. This European quality label is granted by the European Commission to higher education institutions which show excellence in the Diploma Supplement.
An “International Business Management” faculty member together with a colleague from Estonian Business School wins the second place in the 17th Annual Emerald/CEEMAN Management Case Writing Competition
The “International Business Management” program is awarded with the European Language Seal (“Europäisches Sprachensiegel”)

2010
An “International Business Management” faculty member is the winner of the 16th Annual Emerald/CEEMAN Management Case Writing Competition (Naples/Italy). Carinthia University of Applied Sciences becomes a member of CEEMAN, the International Association for Management Development in Dynamic Societies
