Between Her Career, Carinthia, and Outstanding Achievements

Marina Staab, Procurement Assistant at Aldi Süd

The work-friendly class schedules, the strong practical focus, and the personalized support enabled me to perfectly balance my studies and my career.

What began in the summer semester of 2018 with a semester abroad ultimately led Marina Staab to an outstanding master’s degree from CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences. The student, who is originally from Germany, first came to Carinthia as a free mover. The region, the people, and the diverse recreational opportunities impressed her so much that, after completing her bachelor’s degree, she decided to pursue a master’s degree in Business Development & Management with a specialization in Marketing & Sales.

After graduating from high school, Marina first completed a dual Bachelor’s program in Business Administration–Food Management at DHBW Heilbronn. At the same time, she began her professional career in the purchasing department of a large food corporation. The combination of academic training and practical professional experience was particularly well-suited to her strong enthusiasm for food and nutrition topics.

Practical relevance also played a central role in her master’s program at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences. Working alongside renowned companies, Marina tackled real-world projects and became familiar with new methods and tools. She particularly appreciated the program’s work-friendly structure, which allowed her to continue working throughout her studies. She also has fond memories of the personal support she received from the university staff.

Her dedication and outstanding academic achievements were recognized on multiple occasions. Among the special highlights were the Golden Sugar Loaf Award, the ECR Student Academic Award, and several merit-based scholarships. Marina also viewed the graduation ceremony as a fitting conclusion to her time as a student, where her achievements were celebrated in a dignified setting.

During the pandemic, she was particularly impressed by the swift and professional transition to online instruction. In addition, Marina appreciated the environment surrounding CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences: the landscape, the cuisine, the people, and the numerous recreational opportunities–especially the CU Sport program.

Today, Marina works as a procurement assistant at ALDI SÜD, where she is able to directly apply the experience she gained during her studies and professional career. She finds balance in her daily work life through motorcycling, hiking, cycling, and cooking and baking.
