CU – Carinthia University of Applied Sciences | Hochschule Kärnten was awarded gold in the “Learning” category at the Austria-wide Sustainability Award 2026. The award went to the project “Master’s Program in Architecture – Ready for the Construction Transition,” which specifically prepares students for the sustainable transformation of the construction industry.
The award was presented on June 9, 2026, in Vienna and recognizes the holistic educational approach of the Master’s Program in Architecture. The program focuses on key themes of the “BAUwende,” such as resource-efficient construction, renovation of existing buildings, the circular economy, timber construction, material-appropriate design, and participatory processes with local communities.
The Gold Award underscores the strategic integration of sustainability into teaching, research, and university development, and demonstrates how practice-oriented education can contribute to a climate-resilient and socially responsible building culture.
