Research at the
Faculty of  Engineering & IT

The Faculty of Engineering & IT sees itself as a trusted partner to industry, business, and society on issues related to digitalization and provides support for digital transformation processes. Through applied research, we aim to contribute to shaping the current societal and industrial upheavals driven by digital transformation, demographic trends, and the need for environmental and climate protection.

Our main areas of activity are Industry 4.0 and Smart City/Smart Region. Research in our fields of activity is increasingly enriched by interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary questions. We address these challenges through agile project management and close collaboration with the other faculties at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences to harmonize technical, societal, and economic issues.

Our goal is to strengthen local industry and the economy, as well as small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), through the transfer of expertise, the joint development of young talent’s skills, and support for startup initiatives. Through collaborations at the national and international levels, we also aim to be a reliable and innovative research and development partner at the European level.
