You’ll combine business management knowledge with the diverse demands of the international hospitality industry and learn how successful hotels are organized, managed, and developed. Among other topics, you’ll explore front office operations, food & beverage management, marketing, revenue management, controlling, and people management.
What makes the dual study program unique is that you’ll alternate regularly between the Villach campus and paid practical placements at a renowned partner hotel. This allows you to apply your knowledge directly in a hotel setting, gain valuable professional experience while still a student, and gradually take on more responsibility.

The dual bachelor’s degree program in Hotel Management at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences combines business management expertise with the diverse demands of the hospitality industry. In this dual study program, you’ll alternate regularly between academic studies and paid internships at a partner hotel. This allows you to gain professional experience right from the start and gradually develop into a sought-after specialist or manager.

Your partner hotel is more than just an internship. As an equal learning environment, it supports your training with clear learning objectives, mentors, and regular feedback sessions.
Clear Structure and Optimal Planning Capabilities
The program follows a set schedule and begins on September 1; the practical training periods take place from December through February and from May through August. This means you’ll alternate between spending 12 weeks on the Villach campus and 12 weeks at a partner hotel.
More Responsibility, Step by Step
Your practical training phases build systematically on one another. You’ll start in operational areas of hotel management and, as you gain experience, take on administrative, coordinating, and—depending on the hotel—strategic tasks.

You’ll train at one of our select partner establishments—ranging from family-run hotels to internationally oriented hotel chains. This will allow you to develop not only theoretical but also practical skills that are in demand in the hospitality and tourism industries.
A bachelor's degree that gives you a real head start in your career
After six semesters, you'll have a bachelor's degree and one and a half years of professional experience. This combination makes it easier to start your career and opens up a wide range of opportunities for growth in the hotel and hospitality industry.

The winter semester officially begins in September.
Monday through Friday all day and occasionally on Saturdays. The theoretical phase runs from September through the end of November. The practical phase runs from December through the end of February.

What is a dual degree program?
In the dual Bachelor's degree program in Hotel Management, you combine your studies with paid practical training periods at a partner hotel. The university and the hotel are two equally important learning environments that optimally combine theory and practice.
How does the transition between academic study and practical work work?
The program follows a clear structure: About 12 weeks of study at the Villach campus alternate with about 12 weeks of practical training at a partner hotel. This allows you to apply and further develop your knowledge directly in a hotel setting.
Do I have to find a partner hotel on my own?
No. After submitting your application, you’ll indicate which partner companies you’re particularly interested in. CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences oversees the matching process and forwards your application materials to the selected partner companies.

On foot
From the Villach Seebach train station, you can reach the campus in about 20 minutes on foot (1.6 km). The route follows the Drau River to the campus.
By public transportation
The campus is directly accessible from Villach Central Station via bus lines 3 and 8 to the “Technologiepark” stop. From the Villach Seebach train station, you can also reach the campus by taking bus line 8 to the “Technologiepark” stop. The Villach city bus schedules are coordinated with the ÖBB schedules.
By car
Coming from Klagenfurt/Vienna, take the A2 Südautobahn to the Wernberg exit. From there, follow the B83 Kärntner Straße toward Villach for about 2 km, then follow the signs toward Magdalenen See or Technologiepark.
Coming from Salzburg/Munich via the A10 Tauern Autobahn, take the Villach/Ossiacher See exit and follow the B33 Kärntner Straße for about 2 km toward Wernberg/Klagenfurt. Then turn toward Magdalenen See and follow the road to the Technology Park.
There are several free parking spaces right in front of the building, and additional paid parking spaces are available in the surrounding area.
By Plane
There are several airports in the area:
- Klagenfurt: approx. 30-minute drive
- Ljubljana (Slovenia): approx. 1-hour drive
- Graz: approx. 2-hour drive
- Salzburg: approx. 2-hour drive
- Trieste and Venice (Italy): about 2 to 3 hours by car
- Vienna: about a 4-hour drive
- Munich: approx. 4-hour drive
From there, you can continue your journey to the Villach campus by train, bus, taxi, or car.
