Multimedia Technology BSc
Bachelor's Degree Program

Would you like to work creatively while using modern technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and virtual production? Then the bachelor’s program in Information Technologies with a concentration in Multimedia Technology at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences is the perfect fit for you.

In this program, you’ll combine creativity and technology. You’ll gain a solid foundation in computer science, mathematics, programming, multimedia, internet technologies, image processing, and audio and video technology. In later semesters, you’ll explore 3D modeling, computer animation, augmented and virtual reality, as well as the functioning and application of game engines. You’ll use AI tools not only to build knowledge and create content but also to integrate them into IT applications.

The fields of application range from 2D and 3D graphics, animations, and film and video editing to interactive IT applications, game development, and virtual production. In the process, you’ll learn to plan and efficiently implement innovative projects for various multimedia productions.

A practical focus plays a central role: instructors from the industry teach you about current trends and technological developments. You’ll work with state-of-the-art lab equipment, deepen your practical skills, and complete your degree with a professional internship. Campus events also promote interaction between students and instructors.

Special features of the program

Gain hands-on experience and set your own priorities

In the Bachelor’s program in IT Multimedia Technology, you’ll acquire specific practical skills in photography, visual design, image processing, and computer graphics. The use of AI tools is also part of the program.

Starting in the fourth semester, you can further explore your interests through the required-elective modules in Data Science, Mobile Systems Development, and the Internet of Things. The program is complemented by courses in innovation management and content creation.

Between Media Informatics and Technical Informatics

Multimedia technology lies at the intersection of media informatics and computer engineering. As a result, you’ll develop into a creative generalist who combines creative ideas with technical expertise.

This focus enables you to integrate different areas of multimedia technology and implement creative solutions from a technical perspective.

Virtual Production with Real-Time 3D Graphics

Virtual production is a growing area of study. It combines real-time 3D graphics—for example, using game engines like Unreal Engine—with traditional film technology.

Virtual production is used not only in film productions but also in advertising, live events, and interactive installations. Through this program, you’ll gain insight into a cutting-edge field that bridges the gap between digital imagery and real-world productions.
