The World as a Workplace

Karl Brandstätter, Manager | Waagner Biro Bridge Services, Dubai (United Arab Emirates)

Even while studying civil engineering at Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, Karl Brandstätter gained international experience–as the first exchange student from his program to study in South Africa and later at a tunnel design firm in Washington, D.C. After graduating, his career path–which included passing the master builder’s exam–eventually led him to Dubai. Today, he is a member of the Middle East management team at Waagner Biro Bridge Services and, together with colleagues from 26 countries, is responsible for challenging infrastructure projects.

“My studies gave me the technical foundation and the courage to seize international opportunities. My experiences abroad had a decisive impact on my career path and opened doors to an international career.”
