Understanding Cultural Differences Instead of Misunderstanding Them
Salma Yazane, Graduate of the Intercultural Management Program
The Intercultural Management program provided me with practical models and skills that can be directly applied in an international business environment.
The Bachelor’s program in Intercultural Management at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences has significantly shaped how I approach working in international settings today. Before starting the program, I worked remotely for an international marketing agency, where I was frequently confronted with cultural misunderstandings. At the time, I lacked the necessary tools to fully understand what was happening. Through the program, I was able to connect theoretical concepts with my own experiences and better understand how cultural factors influence communication, teamwork, and management practices.
During my current internship in product management at Infineon Technologies, these insights have proven to be extremely valuable. I’ve learned that differences in communication style, time management, and expectations regarding feedback aren’t personal but rather culturally driven. This understanding has improved my ability to collaborate across teams and manage expectations more effectively.
My studies have helped me become more adaptable and observant, and have better prepared me for the complexities of intercultural collaboration.
