Why a Carpenter Studies Architecture
Daniel Steger, Master Carpenter and Designer | Steger Construction and Furniture Carpentry
It was clear to Daniel Steger early on that he wanted to take over his parents’ carpentry business. To expand his technical knowledge in a targeted way, he decided to pursue a bachelor’s and then a master’s degree in architecture at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences. For him, architecture was the ideal complement to traditional craftsmanship.
During his studies, he particularly benefited from the diverse perspectives of his instructors, who brought both practical and academic expertise to the classroom. The combination of hands-on experience, creative thinking, and technical planning continues to shape his work to this day.
Today, Daniel Steger is responsible for the comprehensive planning and implementation of custom furniture and interior design projects at the family business and also collaborates with renowned architectural firms. He has already received several awards for his dedication to architecture and timber construction. His conclusion: Those who remain curious and are committed to continuing their professional development create the best conditions for a successful career.
