Attracting Talent with Interdisciplinary Expertise
Alexander Haslinger, BA, MA, Talent Attraction Manager, Infineon Austria
Alexander Haslinger helps companies attract the right people for the right positions. As Talent Attraction Manager at Infineon Austria, he develops modern sourcing strategies and uses targeted talent marketing to inspire qualified professionals to join the company.
His career path has taken him from the hospitality industry through roles in human resources consulting to his current position. He laid the academic foundation for this at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences, where he successfully completed a bachelor’s degree inBusiness–Hotel Management and a master’s degree in Business Development & Management. In 2018, he was awarded the Ministry of Education’s Recognition Award for his outstanding academic achievements.
Alexander particularly appreciates the successful combination of theory and practice, as well as the interdisciplinary focus of the program. “I would recommend this program because it optimally combines theory and practice thanks to its part-time faculty and guest lecturers. At the same time, its interdisciplinary nature–spanning strategy, human resources, controlling, and marketing–clearly sets it apart from many other master’s programs.”
A particular challenge for him during his studies was balancing work, school, and his personal life. He benefited both from his employer’s understanding and from the flexibility of the faculty, who were supportive whenever his schedule conflicted with class times. Looking back, he sees this very combination of practical teaching, breadth of subject matter, and personal support as one of the greatest advantages of his program.
