Of course, it’s challenging to balance work and school, but we had a great community and strong camaraderie among our fellow students, which helped immensely in keeping us going.
Through adult education, Dominic Zettel has made his way to a doctoral program and an academic career at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences.
A native of Carinthia, he earned his vocational maturity diploma during his apprenticeship at Kostwein and decided to pursue a part-time degree in Industrial Engineering at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences.
“Given my professional experience as a quality engineer, it seemed advantageous to me to have both technical and economic knowledge. That’s why this field of study was exactly the right choice for me,” he recalls.
Thanks to the support of his family and his employer, it was a natural step to continue his academic career by pursuing a master’s degree in Industrial Engineering and Management.
In addition to Kostwein, Flowserve was another stop in his professional career before he began his academic career at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences in 2019. Here, Dominic Zettel is working on an international research project, which has given him the opportunity to pursue a Ph.D. program with the partner university, the Technical University of Compiègne in France.
Thanks to his educational focus on both technical and business fields, Dominic Zettel views his job market prospects as extremely positive. He believes one gains skills that can be applied in any business sector.
True to his motto, “Keep moving forward–take your future into your own hands,” he continues to actively contribute his knowledge and skills to research projects at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences.
In his free time, he enjoys spending time outdoors playing golf, fishing, or playing ice hockey.
