Which bachelor's degree qualifies me for admission to the master's program?
The master’s program is designed for graduates of technical bachelor’s degree programs. The prerequisite is a relevant degree with sufficient knowledge in areas such as electrical engineering or electronics and circuit design, mathematics, and physics. Whether your prior education meets the admission requirements will be assessed on a case-by-case basis as part of the admissions process.
What prior knowledge should I have?
In addition to a bachelor’s degree in engineering, an interest in electrical engineering and power electronics, analytical thinking, and mathematical and technical knowledge provide a solid foundation for the program. Since all courses are taught in English, you should also have a good command of English.
In what language are classes taught?
The master's program is taught entirely in English. This allows you not only to deepen your technical expertise but also to improve your technical English and prepare yourself for an international work environment.

What topics can I expect to cover in my degree program?
Key topics of the program include power semiconductors, power electronic circuits and systems, measurement and sensor technology, control engineering, industrial drives, e-mobility, and smart power electronics. These topics are supplemented by laboratory exercises, research projects, and the master’s thesis.
Will I work with companies while I'm in university?
Yes. The program is closely integrated with the regional power electronics ecosystem. Industry partners contribute their expertise to the courses. The master’s thesis can also be completed in collaboration with companies or Silicon Austria Labs.
What career opportunities will this degree program open up for me?
After you graduate, you can pursue a career in the semiconductor and microelectronics industries, at energy utilities, in the automotive, aerospace, and telecommunications sectors, as well as in research and development departments, among other fields.
Can I gain work experience while I'm in school?
Yes. In addition to the career-friendly study model, the Study & Work program at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences allows you to gain practical work experience at one of the partner companies while you’re still in school and apply your knowledge directly.
After completing my master's degree, can I continue my studies or pursue a career in research?
Yes. The program teaches scientific skills—from literature review and systematic problem-solving to publishing your own findings. This qualifies you for careers in research and development as well as for pursuing a doctoral degree.
