Who is the Master's program in Systems Design intended for?

This master's program is designed for graduates of bachelor's programs in engineering who wish to develop complex technical systems and deepen their knowledge in the fields of electronics, robotics, software development, and artificial intelligence.

What bachelor's degree do I need to get started?

The master’s program is designed for graduates of technical bachelor’s degree programs. Whether your prior education meets the academic admission requirements will be assessed on a case-by-case basis as part of the admissions process.

Can I balance my studies and my career?

Yes. The master's program is designed to be compatible with a full-time job. Classes are held on two weekdays and occasionally on Saturdays, and are supplemented by online components. This makes it easy to balance the program with a full-time job.

What fields of study can I choose?

You’ll choose one of the two majors: Electronic Systems or Robotic Systems. Depending on your area of focus, you’ll deepen your knowledge in areas such as electronic systems, embedded solutions, robotics, automation, or computer vision.

What role does artificial intelligence play in university?

Artificial intelligence methods are an important part of the program. Among other things, you’ll learn how to use machine learning to solve complex technical problems and develop intelligent systems.

Will I be working on research projects while I'm in university?

Yes. In the third semester, as part of the research internship, you can work directly with a research group at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences or take relevant elective modules. This allows you to combine scientific methods with current research and development tasks.

What career opportunities will I have after I graduate?

With a master's degree, you will be qualified for challenging roles in development, research, and technical project management. Potential career paths include industrial electronics, robotics, automation, microelectronics, communications and computer engineering, mechanical and plant engineering, as well as automotive, medical, and environmental engineering.

Can I pursue a Ph.D. after completing my master's degree?

Yes. Upon successful completion of the master’s program, you generally meet the requirements for admission to a doctoral or Ph.D. program in accordance with Section 6(4) of the University of Applied Sciences Act (FHStG), provided that you meet the respective admission requirements of the university.
