Digital Business Management - BA
Digital Business Management is the bachelor’s degree program for anyone who wants to understand how digital technologies are transforming businesses and who wants to play an active role in shaping digital transformation.
The program combines in-depth business knowledge with digital skills. You’ll explore topics such as e-commerce, digital business models, software development, data analysis, AI applications, and robotic process automation. Experienced faculty members from the business world teach up-to-date content using real-world problems and professional tools.
You can study Digital Business Management at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences either part-time while working or full-time. The flexible program structure allows you to combine theoretical knowledge with professional and practical experience early on.
After completing your bachelor’s degree, a wide range of career paths will open up–for example, in the fields of data analytics, AI implementation, e-commerce, management consulting, or IT project management. You can apply your skills in companies of various sizes and across different industries.
Do I need any prior technical knowledge?
No, the program starts with the basics. Coding, data analysis, and AI tools are taught step by step. What matters most is an interest in digital topics and a willingness to engage with them hands-on.
Which programming languages are taught?
The focus is on Python, the most widely used language in the fields of data science and automation. You'll also learn the basics of SQL for database queries, as well as web development concepts for three-tier applications.
How much time do I need to set aside for the part-time degree program?
For the part-time program, you should plan on spending approximately 86 hours per module on preparation and follow-up work in addition to class time. The courses are scheduled in blocks so that they are compatible with full-time employment.

You'll learn how artificial intelligence, robotic process automation, big data, and business intelligence are used in companies. Using the latest software solutions such as Microsoft Power Automate, Azure, and Power BI, you'll analyze data, automate processes, and develop solutions for the digital economy.

During your studies, you’ll work on real-world business problems. Faculty members who are active in the business world bring current methods and case studies directly into the classroom. You will plan, coordinate, and manage digital projects using agile methods such as Scrum and Kanban. In doing so, you will use project management tools such as OpenProject or Trello. This degree program will equip you with the key skills needed to implement IT and digital transformation projects in a structured manner.

Frequently asked questions about the Bachelor’s Degree Program in
“Digital Business Management”
What is the difference between DBM and Business Information Systems?
DBM focuses on the business side of digitalization: business models, e-commerce, digital marketing, and management skills. Business Information Systems has a more technical focus–with an emphasis on systems development and IT architecture.
What specific tools do we use in our studies?
You’ll work with a range of practical tools: MS Power BI, MS Excel (including Power Query/Pivot), MS Visual Studio Code, MS Power Automate, Figma, Trello, OpenProject, SAP, common web content management systems, as well as the MS Azure cloud computing platform and AI-based tools.
How much English is required?
English is an integral part of the program. Selected modules include courses in which you can brush up on your English skills for specific business contexts. In addition, you will write and give presentations in English in several modules. The primary language of instruction is German.

On foot
From the Villach Seebach train station, you can reach the campus in about 20 minutes on foot (1.6 km). The route follows the Drau River to the campus.
By public transportation
The campus is directly accessible from Villach Central Station via bus lines 3 and 8 to the “Technologiepark” stop. From the Villach Seebach train station, you can also reach the campus by taking bus line 8 to the “Technologiepark” stop. The Villach city bus schedules are coordinated with the ÖBB schedules.
By car
Coming from Klagenfurt/Vienna, take the A2 Südautobahn to the Wernberg exit. From there, follow the B83 Kärntner Straße toward Villach for about 2 km, then follow the signs toward Magdalenen See or Technologiepark.
Coming from Salzburg/Munich via the A10 Tauern Autobahn, take the Villach/Ossiacher See exit and follow the B33 Kärntner Straße for about 2 km toward Wernberg/Klagenfurt. Then turn toward Magdalenen See and follow the road to the Technology Park.
There are several free parking spaces right in front of the building, and additional paid parking spaces are available in the surrounding area.
By Plane
There are several airports in the area:
- Klagenfurt: approx. 30-minute drive
- Ljubljana (Slovenia): approx. 1-hour drive
- Graz: approx. 2-hour drive
- Salzburg: approx. 2-hour drive
- Trieste and Venice (Italy): about 2 to 3 hours by car
- Vienna: about a 4-hour drive
- Munich: approx. 4-hour drive
From there, you can continue your journey to the Villach campus by train, bus, taxi, or car.
