Sustainable Nature-Based Tourism
for Wellness and Health - MD

Nature-based tourism is gaining importance when it comes to combining well-being and health with the sustainable development of destinations. At the same time, new requirements and opportunities are emerging for tourism offerings that take into account both human health and environmental sustainability.
The Micro Degree “Sustainable Nature-Based Tourism for Wellness and Health” provides you with up-to-date knowledge and practical insights into the intersection of nature, wellness, health, and sustainable tourism. You’ll explore current developments and innovative approaches and learn how to develop, manage, and market tourism products and experiences.
This short academic program consists of five modules totaling 5 ECTS:
- Sustainable Nature-based Tourism for Wellness and Health
- Nature-Based Tourism for Well-being and Health
- The Role of Digital Technologies for Sustainable Tourism Destinations
- Methodologies for Stakeholder Engagement and Facilitation in Destinations
- New Markets and Products in Nature-Based Tourism for Health and Well-being
The Micro Degree is offered entirely online. The four Micro Credentials together form a coordinated learning path, but can also be completed individually according to your professional interests and continuing education goals. Once you have successfully completed all five modules, you will receive the Micro Degree “Sustainable Nature-based Tourism for Wellness and Health.”
The program is designed for professionals, students, and practitioners in the fields of tourism, health, environmental management, and related disciplines. Upon completion, you will have a deep understanding of current developments in nature-based health tourism and will be able to further develop tourism offerings with a focus on well-being, health, and environmental sustainability.

Details about the Micro Degree
The Micro Degree “Sustainable Nature-based Tourism for Wellness and Health” consists of the five MC courses listed below. These can be enrolled in individually. It is also possible to enroll in multiple MC courses in various combinations and in a flexible sequence. If you would like to enroll in more than two MC courses at the same time, please contact our Continuing Education Center: weiterbildung(at)cuas.at.
You can only register for the capstone module after you have completed all MC courses.
Virtual Campus Tour
On foot
From the Feldkirchen bus station, you can reach the campus in about 5 minutes on foot. Take 10th October Street toward the city center until you reach Schillerplatz. From there, continue along Kirchgasse and Ossiacher Street to Hauptplatz. The campus is located at the lower end of Hauptplatz.
By public transportation
If you’re coming to Feldkirchen by train or bus, the campus is about a 10-minute walk (600 m) from the Feldkirchen train station and about a 5-minute walk (400 m) from the Feldkirchen bus station.
By car
Coming from Klagenfurt, take the Feldkirchen bypass to the third traffic light, then turn left onto Ossiacher See Süduferstraße. Follow the road for about 1 km, then turn left before the railroad overpass toward the city center onto Ossiacher Straße.
Coming from Villach, turn right at the first traffic light onto Ossiacher See Süduferstraße. Follow the road for about 1 km, then turn left before the railroad overpass toward the city center onto Ossiacher Straße.
After about 200 m, you’ll find a free parking lot on the left. The campus is located at the lower end of the main square. There are several short-term parking spots directly in front of the building.
By Plane
There are several airports in the area to choose from:
- Klagenfurt: about a 30-minute drive
- Ljubljana (Slovenia): approx. 1 hour 15 minutes by car
- Graz: about 1 hour and 45 minutes by car
- Salzburg: approx. 2 hours 30 minutes by car
- Trieste and Venice (Italy): approx. 2 to 3 hours’ drive
- Vienna: approx. 3 hours 45 minutes by car
- Munich: approx. 4 hours travel time
The onward journey to the Feldkirchen campus can then be made by train, bus, taxi, or car.
