Systems Design Degree Program

The Systems Design master’s degree program is designed for graduates of technical bachelor’s programs who wish to deepen their knowledge in the field of complex technical systems. During the program, you will explore the interconnections between electronics, software, sensor technology, data analysis, and artificial intelligence, and use this knowledge to develop innovative solutions for a wide range of applications. Depending on your interests, you can specialize in Electronic Systems or Robotic Systems.

Whether your prior education meets the academic admission requirements will be assessed on a case-by-case basis as part of the admissions process. The language of instruction is English.

What should you bring?

Ideal prerequisites for the master’s program are a basic understanding of technology and an interest in complex technical systems. The following are particularly helpful:

  • an interest in electronics, robotics, software development, and artificial intelligence
  • analytical and systems-oriented thinking
  • A passion for understanding technical concepts and developing solutions
  • An interest in research and technological development
  • Initiative and the ability to work independently
  • Good English skills, as the program is conducted entirely in English

Here's what you'll learn during your studies

In the master’s program, you will deepen your knowledge in the fields of electronics, robotics, software development, and intelligent technical systems. You’ll learn to analyze, develop, and take a holistic approach to complex systems. Among other topics, you’ll explore signal and data analysis, embedded systems, automation, sensor technology, and methods of artificial intelligence and machine learning.

Depending on your chosen track, you will specialize in either Electronic Systems or Robotic Systems. The program is complemented by lab exercises, projects, and either a research internship or relevant elective modules, in which you will apply your knowledge to current research and development challenges.

Further Studies

Upon successful completion of the Systems Design master's program, you will earn the academic degree of Master of Science in Engineering (MSc). In accordance with Section 6(4) of the University of Applied Sciences Act (FHStG), this degree generally qualifies you for further doctoral or PhD studies, provided that you meet the respective admission requirements of the university.
