Study content and requirements

for the SE-Green Mechatronics

What should you bring to the program?

No specific prior technical knowledge is required for the Bachelor’s in SE – Green Mechatronics. The program is open to anyone with a high school diploma. What’s important is an interest in technology and the natural sciences, a passion for technical challenges, and a willingness to engage deeply with the course material.

The following are also helpful:

  • a basic understanding of technical concepts
  • creativity and logical thinking
  • curiosity and a willingness to learn

To help you prepare for the program, CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences offers CU Add-Ons in mathematics, computer science, and physics before the program begins. Even without a high school diploma, you can still enroll if you have relevant professional experience and complete the preparatory course.

Here's what you'll learn in college

During your studies, you will acquire a broad foundation in engineering. You will learn to integrate the mechanical, electronic, and software aspects of technical systems and apply them to a variety of problems.

Analyzing and Improving
Technical Systems Using models, simulations, and the fundamentals of control engineering, you will examine dynamic processes, plan technical workflows, and develop them further in a targeted manner.

Solving
Mechanical Problems Through Design In Technical Mechanics, you’ll tackle static and dynamic problems and develop an understanding of design relationships.

Implementing
Control Systems, Robots, and Equipment You will program industrial control systems and robots, identify faults in technical equipment, and support their reliable operation. Knowledge of automation and data analysis will help you systematically optimize processes.

What opportunities will you have after you graduate?

With your bachelor’s degree in SE – Green Mechatronics, you can pursue a master’s degree in Engineering & IT at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences or at another university of applied sciences or university.

The four-semester master’s program in Systems Design at CU Carinthia University of Applied Sciences offers a direct path to specialize in this field. There, you will focus on the design and implementation of complex technical systems—from embedded systems and electronics to mechatronics and control engineering. This will allow you to deepen your expertise in analyzing and solving challenging technical problems and in the targeted further development of systems.

Here's how the program is structured

The program lasts six semesters and is worth 180 ECTS credits. You can complete the German-language program on a full-time or part-time basis at the Villach campus. Starting in the fall of 2026, a full-time English-language option will also be offered.

In the part-time program, classes are held on Mondays and Wednesdays starting at 4:50 p.m., on Fridays starting at 4:00 p.m., and all day on Saturdays.
