Civil Engineering MSc
Master's Program

Would you like to plan challenging construction projects, develop innovative designs, and take on leadership roles in the construction industry? If so, the Master’s degree program in Civil Engineering offers you the ideal opportunity to deepen your professional and personal skills in a targeted manner.
During the program, you’ll expand your knowledge of structural design, construction project management, and sustainable building, and develop solutions for the complex challenges of modern construction projects. In doing so, you’ll combine technical expertise with business acumen, digital methods, and hands-on project work. Artificial intelligence (AI) and modern planning tools will help you design, optimize, and implement structures more efficiently.
Thanks to the high proportion of project work, close collaboration with companies, and courses in the construction lab, you’ll tackle real-world problems from the construction industry even while you’re still a student. At the same time, you can tailor your degree to your career goals by choosing from three specialization tracks.
With a master’s degree, you’ll be qualified for responsible technical and leadership roles in planning, design, construction management, project management, or research–and you’ll actively help shape the future of construction.
33% Project Work – Apply Knowledge Directly
Practical experience is at the heart of the master's program. About one-third of the coursework consists of projects in which you tackle real-world challenges and directly apply theory to professional practice.
Three Specializations for Your Career Path
Tailor your degree program to your interests: Choose between Design and Construction, Planning and Execution, or Construction Process Management, and specialize specifically in your future career field.
Combining Practice, Research, and AI
In the construction lab, in real-world labs, on field trips, and in collaborative projects, you’ll work on current issues in construction practice. At the same time, you’ll use modern technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) to efficiently advance the development of structures and planning processes.
Develop solutions for the construction industry of tomorrow.
Deepen your knowledge of civil engineering, specialize in your areas of interest, and design innovative construction projects using state-of-the-art technology, digital methods, and sustainable concepts.
Special features of the program
In the Master’s degree program in Civil Engineering, you will not only deepen your technical expertise but also develop the skills needed for challenging tasks in planning, design, and construction project management. Practical experience, research, and modern technologies will guide you throughout the entire program and optimally prepare you for leadership roles in the construction industry.
Finding the Right Balance Between Study and Work
The master’s program is deliberately designed to allow time for practical work experience. One free day per week and blended learning formats allow you to gain professional experience while studying and apply what you’ve learned directly to real-world projects. This way, you benefit from an ideal combination of in-depth academic study and professional practice.
Gain Hands-On Experience—in the Lab and on the Construction Site
In this master’s program, “practical experience” means much more than just project work. You’ll work in the construction lab and in real-world labs on existing structures, gain experience on construction sites, and gain exciting insights into state-of-the-art construction methods and technologies during field trips to companies such as DOKA or STRABAG.
Thinking and Planning in an Interdisciplinary Manner
Complex construction projects are the result of teamwork. That’s why you’ll collaborate with students from the architecture and sustainable real estate management programs on interdisciplinary projects and learn how to successfully balance technical, design, and economic requirements.
Studying in German or English
The master’s degree program in Civil Engineering is offered both in German and entirely in English as “Civil Engineering.” With the English-language specialization in Construction Process Management, international students, and the opportunity to spend a semester abroad, you’ll gain valuable experience for a career in an international work environment.
